• Dinsdale and Mitchell made their first-class debuts for Rhodesia. Dinsdale later played for Essex, where he grew up.
• Clarke and Williams were making their final first-class appearances for Rhodesia.
• 12th Man for Rhodesia was JG Jones, and for Natal MM Benkenstein of Rhodesia stood in.
• Richards reached 50 in 90 minutes and his century, all scored before lunch, in 128 minutes.
• In his final first-class match, Goddard took a hat-trick in the Rhodesian first innings at the expense of Fletcher, du Preez and Laughlin.
• This was also Versfeld's last first-class match, before he retired at the age of 26, although that was not known at the time.
• With his innings of 106 and 69, Richards took his run total for the 1969/70 domestic season to 1172, then a record, beating that of Rhodesia's Colin Bland in 1964/65.
