Pakistan's first series win in England came via an innings victory at Headingley, where Imran Khan took ten wickets

I remember this test series like yesterday, this has to be one of my best test series England v Pakistan, and it was just so great to watch and be involved in. It was for the first time Pakistan were invited to play 5 tests and the tour kicked off with the one-dayers which England narrowly won, but the cricket was just great! I remember Miandad and Qadir came late in the tour, and it seemed as if they didn't miss much as Miandad was in superb form throughout the tour except a big zero at Headingley, which Pakistan won. I remember the Headingley test very well. Incidentally it was Imran's Benefit Year from his county Sussex, and in those days Sunday was a rest day and Pakistan were miles ahead in the test at Headingley at close of play on Saturday. So what did the Pakistan team do to rest on Sunday? They all got on the official tour bus and made their way to Huddersfield where the full team was to play Imran's Benefit Match at Arena 84 against India. It was just amazing !!

Sigh - yet another Pakistani article from the past.. I guess all things good about Pakistani cricket are confined to history books

I vividly remember this dismissal. The figure fails to mention the player who is celebrating after taking the catch. That's Ijaz Ahmed. Ijaz played a swashbuckling innings of 50 in, as described by an English commentator, a calypso style.

It was a 5 test series in 1987, and leeds victory leads Pakistan to 1-0 series win. It could have been 2-0 hadn't england survived almost 5 sessions after follow on in the last test at the oval.

When we talk about history, mentioning the year is an absolute necessity.

Salim Malik's 99 was just as important as Khan's 7 for. Considering that Miandad didnt fire. Malik was surprisingly good at Leeds. He repeated such performances on 92 tour
